Resumen
En los últimos 35 años, la inteligencia emocional (IE) ha sido ampliamente estudiada desde diversas perspectivas teóricas y metodológicas. Este artículo analiza su evolución y aplicaciones, a través de la exploración de los principales modelos teóricos e incluye enfoques basados en habilidades, modelos de rasgos y enfoques mixtos, mediante una revisión selectiva de la literatura. Se examina su impacto en el desarrollo de competencias socioemocionales y su integración en diversos ámbitos como la educación, la gestión organizacional, la salud mental y el ambiente. Sin embargo, su desarrollo ha generado controversias, con debates sobre la validez del constructo, la fiabilidad de su medición y su diferenciación de otros factores psicológicos. A pesar de estas limitaciones, los avances en neurociencia e inteligencia artificial han impulsado nuevas aplicaciones, lo que favorece su evaluación y entrenamiento. Este análisis contribuye a la comprensión de la IE como un campo interdisciplinario en constante expansión, con implicaciones teóricas y prácticas en distintas áreas del conocimiento.
